My little HAM!

I was playing around with my camera tonight while Makenna was playing around with her toys. She wasn't really paying much attention to me....

I asked her to look at mommy so that I could take her picture...

She gave me this:

lol. Every time I snapped a photo, she would run over to look at the screen to see "kenna's picture." I think she is getting used to having a camera in her face all of time ;)

Big girl bed

We made the switch from crib to toddler bed, after Makenna figured out she could climb her way out. She gave us a scare when we heard her come crashing down out of the crib one evening when she decided she wasn't quite ready to go to sleep for the night.

That very night we converted her bed. And that week was awful, with little sleep for all of us....well at least for me and Makenna (Mike seemed to do okay sleeping through all of the wake ups ;)

The first few nights she was constantly getting out of bed and we could only get her to fall asleep hours after her normal bedtime (when she basically just zonked out on her own). I decided to go the "Super Nanny" route and sit by her door, watching the video monitor, and putting her back into bed every.single.time she got out.

After a week or two she decided that she liked her bed and started sleeping great, although still waking up an hour earlier than she did when she was in the crib. We were doing great! .....and then daylight savings time came and now we are back to square one. Wish us luck on getting back to our routine. Sleep, baby, sleep!

Here are some funny pictures of Makenna and her new bed:

Ever since the switch, she no longer wears pajamas. I have no clue why, but no matter what type of pjs I put her in, she takes them off as soon as I shut her bedroom door. I sneak back in and put a blanket on her every night now.

And one afternoon she started yelling and crying for me. I ran into her bedroom to find her completely stuck under the bed. It took a lot of effort to get her out!

Bike Riding

Auntie Brooke and Uncle Boe gave Makenna a super cool big girl bike for her 2nd birthday. The bike doesn't have training wheels or peddles. It is supposed to help kids learn how to balance and steer without having to do the peddling part too. Makenna is warming up to it, but doesn't feel completely comfortable on it yet. She is, however, a big fan of her "special hat" aka helmet.

Thanks Brooke and Boe!

Here are a few more pictures from our first trip out to the cabin in 2011. Still really cold, but oh so fun!

Look who's TWO!

My baby girl is officially a big girl now! It is amazing to see how much she's grown in the past year both physically and cognitively. Words can't begin to describe how much we love this little sweetie. Makenna is our entire world. I am so incredibly thankful to be her mommy.

The day of her party we decided she needed a little hair cut. Her hair was starting to get ratty with the wispy baby curls and it was all really uneven. I have to admit, I was not exactly thrilled with the results of her hair cut (it was hard seeing those curls go), but it is growing out really nicely and I think she looks cuter than ever.

We had her birthday at The Little Gym. Makenna loved it. She knew she was the star of the show and really made sure she was the center of attention. She loved running around with all of her friends and we all had a great time.

Xmas in Hawaii

We spent Christmas in Maui with the Shore Family! It was a wonderful week, with beautiful weather, and lots of time spent relaxing on the beach.

Here are just some of the highlights of our vacation:

Family Picture--Lynn, Doug, Boe, Brooke, Mike, Laura, & Makenna
Mile Marker 14 Beach

Makenna loved spending time in the pool with Nana and Daddy

We saw some amazing sunrises and sunsets

Playing at Black Rock Beach

J.T Flemming Beach

Charter Fishing Boat Trip--And I didn't puke!! Boe did though ;) It was a long two hour trip out into the dark, rough seas. I sat in the "fighting chair" the entire time. It was the one place on the boat where I could focus on the horizon at all times. I made the mistake of going to the bathroom down in the cabin and that almost did me in. Once we made it to the first and second buoy, the water began to calm down and the sun started shinning. Fishing was a little slow but we caught a Mahi Mahi by trolling and a bunch of little tunas at the buoys. The 2 hour trip back to land, was much nicer and we even saw a few whales up close!

Road to Hana--We made it to mile 30 something, I think? And, again, I didn't even puke! However, I hogged the front seat and stared out the window the entire way. We stopped for a little hike to some waterfalls and then spent some time at a little beach.

Makenna had just fallen asleep as we pulled into the first parking lot at mile 2, so Mike ended up carrying a sleeping baby for the 3 mile hike. Here he is looking really happy about it. She woke up just as we got to the falls and was able to join in the fun.

Makena Beach--This is where we found the sea turtles. Probably my favorite part of the entire vacation. I've never swam with a turtle before...let alone swimming with six, HUGE ones! Some were bigger than me, Mike guesses they weighed around 400lbs. So beautiful. We all took turns snorkeling and playing on the beach with Kenna.
Before heading off to the airport, we stopped at Iao Valley state park and looked at some pretty neat waterfalls, trees, plants, and a gorgeous view.

What a wonderful week in paradise. Can't wait to plan our next vacation!
