testing, testing, 1, 2, 3

Blogspot somehow changed my blog template, so I had to start pretty much from scratch. Hopefully, now I will be able to post larger photos and have a little more freedom with arranging them into place.

So lets see if it works...these are some photos from a recent trip to the zoo:

Another weekend at the beach

Makenna is really loving the beach these days. This weekend, she had a blast throwing rocks into the water.

Shutter love Tuesday

I stumbled upon this website, http://thetrendytreehouse.blogspot.com/, and thought it would be fun to participate in the Shutter Love Tuesdays. I like that each week they pick a new theme. Hopefully this will give me some new inspiration for different photos to take.

This week's theme is FACES.

I chose this photo of Makenna playing at the park, because...well...it's a cute snapshot of her FACE. Fits the theme pretty well, right?!

4th of July Weekend

Mike and I decided to head up to the cabin on Thursday night so we could spend all Friday exploring the island before the rest of the family arrived. We went over to the state park and let Makenna hike through the trails.

We stopped to get a few photos of her in the flowers.

She hated them. Mike thinks it was because the flowers smelled SO bad...Oh well...at least we got a couple cute pictures.

Makenna washing her hands after touching every gross thing she could, just so she could say "Ewwwwww!"

Ready to be done hiking...."Momma, Uuuup!"
On Saturday, everyone else arrived at the beach. Makenna loved spending time with her Great-Grandma and Grandpa Z, Great Aunt Jenny, Great Grandma Smith, and both sets of her Grandparents. Uncle Matt and Kayla even surprised us by coming up on Sunday.
We spent a lot of time walking the beach, looking for seashells. We also went for a short jet ski ride, but Makenna hates wearing her lifejacket. Mike and I both got to enjoy some time fishing while Makenna napped (we both caught one!).

Right before Grandpa started the 15 minute long firecrackers, I gave Makenna a cupcake and tricked her to wear the gun muffs to protect her little ears. She ended up doing pretty well with the muffs on for the rest of the night.
Do you think we had enough fireworks??? The grandpas put on a beautiful show. Makenna even stayed up to watch most of it. At about 10:45, she finally said "Ni-Night pretties" and headed to her bed.
