Ah.mazing!

This had to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen. ORCA WHALES right in front of the cabin!! Whales come through every year or so, but I have never hopped on a jet ski with my dad and gone right out on top of them. Well we kept a safe distance for the most part, but when they would go under water for 5-10 minutes and pop up on the other side of you, you can't help but imagine them swimming right below you!

There were 7 (maybe 6) total. There were at least two HUGE ones and two newer babies.

U-Fish

I have never been to a U-Fish place before....It was so cool! You are guaranteed a bite every 2 seconds. That's my kind of fishing; especially with a 19 month old who has the attention-span that lasts approximately 1 minute tops.

Here she is waiting patiently while daddy baits the hook.

Fish ON!!

The fish literally SWARM the hook.

You are suppose to keep ANY fish you hook, but since we don't eat a lot of fish, we are more "catch and release" type people. This is Mike trying to sneak the fish back into the water.

We did end up keeping one (so we wouldn't get in trouble)...I'm not quite sure what we are going to do with it?!

They even had goats, peacocks, ducks, cats, and rabbits for Makenna to look at.

And here is a picture of Makenna's black eye that she got earlier in the morning. She tried to stand inside a little basket, which tipped over, and she smacked her eye on a wood chair. Ouch!

How cute is she?

While trying to soak up the last days of summer, we've been spending a lot of time outside. We took Makenna to a park we had never been to before (Wildwood) and had a great time. This park is built for children 2-5 years which is neat because Makenna can easily climb up to all the slides. It also has a stream running right through the park which Makenna LOVED! Here is a sweet picture of her looking over the railings at the waterfall below.

Let's Go Fly a Kite....

Or NOT!
For a kid who is obsessed with planes, birds, and balloons, you would think she would LOVE flying kites, right? Wrong!
Makenna was terrified of the kite. So much so, that we had to put it away after only flying it for 2 minutes...

Harstine Island Carnival!

Makenna's first carnival was so much fun! She got to play games and choose her prizes. She really got the hang of playing the games, but it took her forever to decide which toy she wanted at each station.

Everytime she put a beanbag in Micky's mouth, she would walk around to the other side to see where it went.

How can summer be over already?

As I'm sitting here making a checklist of things I need to do in my classroom tomorrow morning, I am in disbelief that summer vacation has come and gone so fast. I've enjoyed spending so much time with Makenna.

There are so many everyday moments that I'm going to miss once school starts though. I'm going to miss seeing her dump her breakfast all over the floor when she's finished eating. I'm going to miss hearing her shout "mama, up!" when she wakes up from her afternoon nap. Most of all, I going to miss sitting outside with her and watching her explore.

She is SUCH an outside girly-girl. She wants to touch everything and then say "ewwww!" She always asks "what's that?" and points to trees, the sky, cars, bugs, everything. She calls the neighbor's dog over to play by yelling "Molly--dumb, Molly--dumb". It took me a little bit to figure out that dumb=come! We've gone to the zoo weekly. We'll have to keep doing this on the weekends because it is one of Makenna's very favorite things to do. Thanks again Grandma Sandy (Grammy) for the zoo pass! We've gone to The Little Gym and Story time at the library with some wonderful friends. It is exciting to see Makenna learning how to interact with her peers. We also spent many weekends at the cabin which Kenna absolutely LOVES. Just this past weekend, she went wading in the bay all the way up to her chest!

Since I haven't posted pictures on the blog for awhile, I'll just post some of my favorite ones from the last month or so.

While I'm super bummed about going back to work, I'm thankful that I truly know how precious this time I've had with her is. The count-down in on for xmas break!!
